The Opportunity
SEE Group have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Franna Crane Operator (40t) to join our highly skilled Civil Operations team. This full-time role is based predominantly in Orange, NSW, supporting a major mining infrastructure project. FIFO from Brisbane is available, and local or DIDO candidates are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Conduct daily pre-start inspections on the Franna crane and lifting gear to ensure equipment readiness and compliance.
- Operate a 25t Franna (pick-and-carry crane) to complete lifts including equipment relocation, materials handling and structural movements.
- Perform pick-and-carry operations in accordance with lift plans, load charts and site lifting procedures.
- Work closely with riggers, dogmen and supervisors to coordinate lift paths, maintain exclusion zones and ensure safe communication.
- Transport materials, tooling and project components across site as required.
- Inspect and maintain lifting gear, ensuring all slings, shackles, chains and attachments remain serviceable and within test date.
- Clean, lubricate, refuel and carry out minor adjustments or repairs to the crane in line with OEM guidelines and direction from Workshop Personnel.
- Record crane hours, lift activities and daily movements accurately for internal reporting and billing.
- Operate a forklift when required to support general site operations.
- Assist the Civil Fleet team with lifting, transport and general support tasks as needed.
Essential Skills and Attributes
- Minimum 3 years’ experience operating cranes, with strong experience in Franna (pick-and-carry) operations.
- Previous experience on mining or civil construction projects is preferred.
- CN Crane Ticket
- Current Driver’s Licence and HR Licence.
- Rigging ticket.
- Forklift Licence.
- General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
- Strong understanding of load charts, dogging signals, lifting points, centre of gravity and safe pick-and-carry operations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a coordinated lifting team.
- Safety-focused with strong situational awareness.
- Reliable with the ability to follow instructions and meet required timelines.
