About the Role

Downer is seeking qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanics to join our Hume team. This is your chance to work in a team that values diversity and collaboration while expanding your skills and taking on new challenges. You’ll work hands-on with heavy diesel equipment, trucks, and engines, both in the workshop and on-site.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Service and maintain heavy diesel equipment, trucks, and engines

  • Diagnose faults and provide breakdown support

  • Perform field service work and travel as needed

  • Operate and maintain asphalt and earthmoving equipment (e.g., stabilisers, skid steers, loaders, pavers, spray trucks)

  • Contribute to a safe, respectful, and high-performing team

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Trade qualification as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic

  • Current Forklift Licence (required)

  • MR/HR Truck Licence (preferred)

  • Experience with hydraulics and auto-electrical systems (advantageous)

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset

  • Flexibility to work day and night shifts

  • Commitment to safety and teamwork
