Your Role :

As a Mining Planning Engineer, you will play a key role in defining, optimizing, and managing short-, medium-, and long-term mining plans. You will be involved in the entire planning cycle, integrating technical, economic, operational, HSE, and environmental constraints, while ensuring the achievement of production, cost, and safety objectives.
You will work closely with the geology, production, maintenance, finance, and HSE teams, providing technical support to the site teams.

Main Responsibilities :

  • Develop, optimize, and update medium- and long-term production plans for open-pit mining operations (experience in underground mining is a plus);
  • Size the fleet of equipment in line with mining plans and production targets;
  • Ensure alignment between mining plans, operational objectives, and geotechnical, economic, and environmental constraints;
  • Develop mining and resource optimization scenarios through strategic planning studies;
  • Support short-term planning when required to assist operations teams;
  • Coordinate with geology, survey, geotechnical, and operations teams to ensure reliable and coherent integration of data into mining plans;
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of planning practices, including the use of digital tools and advanced technological solutions;
  • Train, guide, and mentor junior planning engineers by sharing best practices and ensuring effective knowledge transfer.

Required Skills :

Technical and Digital Skills :

  • Proficiency in open-pit mining planning software: Datamine, NPVS, MineSched;
  • Knowledge of underground planning tools is appreciated: MSO (Mineable Shape Optimizer), Deswik;
  • Strong understanding of geological modeling, economic optimization, and mine sequencing principles;
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex data to inform strategic decisions;
  • Good command of office and reporting tools (Excel, Power BI, etc.) for tracking and presenting plans.

  • Technical leadership and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams;
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and strong results orientation;
  • Excellent communication and knowledge transfer skills;
  • Adaptability to rotational work schedules and demanding mining environments.

Education and Experience :

  • Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent;
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in mining planning, with significant exposure to open-pit operations (UG experience is a plus);
  • Proven experience in medium- and long-term planning, with the ability to contribute occasionally to short-term planning;
  • Exposure to international or multicultural mining environments is desirable.

Position based at an operating site located in the southeast of Morocco.
