Reporting to the Construction Team Leader, you will gain practical experience by working as part of a team, to see our clients’ projects delivered to completion in regard to time, cost and quality. This includes working closely with our in-house design team and being involved with our projects from tendering, through to completion, across contract administration and site quality supervision.

You’ll split your time between the action on-site—watching projects come to life—and collaborating in the office with our talented team: reviewing project progress, coordinating council, contractors and clients to keep things moving. The opportunity

In this varied role you will:

  • Grow – Have the support of key construction engineers to technically train, whilst having a coach to work with you to set career goals. You may also want to try other engineering disciplines as you continue to develop your construction experience.

You will gain knowledge and develop responsibility for:

– Contract Admin and Construction Project Management

  • Managing contractors
  • Progress claims & variations
  • Monitoring project program
  • Stakeholder engagement (council, private utilities, client), ensuring values of are upheld with integrity

– Engineering Construction Surveillance

  • Attendance and chairing of site meetings
  • Attendance at hold point site visits
  • Review of hold points of the project Quality Systems
  • Resolution of latent conditions using engineering judgment
  • Review compliance of the works undertaken in relation to technical specifications, applicable legislation, approvals and standards with a focus on risk management

About you:

  • A motivated individual who is passionate about civil engineering, and using that engineering knowledge in construction both in and out of the office
  • You will have been introduced to technical learnings and skills relevant to engineering construction and contract administration
  • You have an eye for detail and for following defined operating processes and procedures
  • A self-motivated team player with initiative, strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • You thrive on effective communication, keeping accurate records and seeing projects through to timely completion
  • You are not afraid to use the latest technology and software to support you in your role
  • You deliver on your promises, priding yourself on developing and maintaining strong client relationships

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor of Civil Engineering
  • Ideally you have had some exposure to construction and construction services – both contractual and QA. If you have undergraduate experience or a few years post graduate in this field, it would be highly advantageous
  • The ability to read and understand plans and construction details
  • Good financial skills; some experience with construction programming; some trade measuring skills
  • The ability to work within QA, financial, and administration systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to think outside the square
  • Open unrestricted Driver’s Licence
  • Queensland Construction Induction Card (White Card)
  • Full working rights and ability to work without sponsorship
