Overview of the position:
Novus Glass Port Hedland is owned by Kariyarra Glass Services Pty Ltd, a majority owned and
operated Pilbara Aboriginal business. We use our services to create opportunities for people, family,
and Country. Kariyarra Glass Servies provides the best service, experience, and outcomes in automotive and mechanical glazing in the Pilbara.
The Trainee Automotive Glazier supports qualified technicians in the installation, repair and replacement of windscreens and automotive glass. This role provides structured, on-the-job training in line with the Automotive Glazing qualification and offers exposure to workshop and field-based duties, including work on mine sites.
The position is suited to someone reliable, safety-focused and keen to learn a skilled trade. No previous experience is required.
Technical Support:
•Assist with the installation, removal, repair and replacement of windscreens and automotive glass.
•Prepare vehicles and work areas safely and efficiently before and after tasks.
•Use correct techniques, tools, and materials under supervision.
•Perform basic sealing, cleaning, curing, and finishing tasks.
•Assist with preparing job materials.
Workshop Duties:
•Maintain a clean and well-organised workshop, tools and equipment.
•Support inventory checks, glass handling, storage and waste disposal.
•Complete trainee records, job sheets and training modules as required.
Field & Mine Site Work:
•Assist during offsite work and mine site visits, including vehicle glass replacement and repairs.
•Follow all site-specific entry requirements and safety protocols
•Participate in occasional travel, including short overnight stays (accommodation and meals provided).
Safety and Compliance:
•Follow all WHS procedures, including PPE use, manual handling, and equipment safety.
•Report hazards, incidents, and near misses immediately.
•Comply with company policies, client site rules, and traineeship obligations.
Customer Service & Communication:
•Deliver polite, professional service to customers, contractors and site personnel.
•Communicate clearly during vehicle intake, job updates and completion handovers.
•Support technicians with accurate job sheet documentation.
•Represent the company positively onsite and offsite.
•Escalate customer concerns or technical issues when needed.
•Maintain a helpful attitude and contribute to a positive customer experience.
•Manage the booking system and ensure all changes are recorded and communicated to the client.
Other:
•Undertake ongoing training and support as required to maintain and grow professional knowledge and capability.
•Other tasks within the scope of the role, as required.
Essential:
•Full C-Class driver’s licence.
•Ability to obtain and maintain a National Police Clearance.
•Physically fit and able to lift, carry, and handle glass safely.
•Willingness to learn, follow instructions, and complete training requirements.
•Good communication skills and positive attitude.
•Ability to work safely in workshops, outdoors, and on mine sites.
•Willingness to travel and stay overnight when required.
Desirable:
•White Card (or willingness to obtain).
•Interest in automotive, mechanical, or trade-based work.
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
