HBT Australia is seeking a motivated and technically skilled Underground Electrical Field Service Engineer to join our team in New South Wales. This is an exciting opportunity to join a local organisation operating globally.

About the role:

The Underground Field Service Technician (Known internally as Field Service Engineer) is responsible for providing on-site support to customers across multiple locations including Narrabri, Mudgee, Muswellbrook, Wollongong, Singleton & Lithgow, ensuring optimal performance and maintenance of HBT equipment, primarily in underground mining environments.

You will be responsible for providing on-site underground support to customers while ensuring optimal performance and maintenance of our HBT product line

You will leverage your technical expertise to audit, repair/replace components and provide guidance on operating our HBT equipment. You will also directly monitor the equipment in production and provide technical equipment and productivity improvement recommendations to customers, that will enhance the performance and reliability of the HBT equipment.

As an OEM Field Service Technician, you will have the direct support and access to our internal product support, engineering & automation teams.

  • Willingness to travel to customer mine sites across New South Wales, including extended consecutive nights away from home
  • Flexibility in being reactive to breakdowns – be a superstar and get our customers producing when it stops working

  • Availability to support customers outside of business hours and work alternative shifts (afternoon/night/weekend) as needed
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team

Essential Criteria:

  • Relevant Trade Certificate (Cert 3 or higher in Electrical trade)
  • Unrestricted Driver’s Licence (NSW or QLD)
  • Strong focus on Safety
  • Strong attention to detail, administrative skills, report writing skills and time management abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and Wor
  • Ability to travel

Highly Regarded Qualifications/ Experience:

  • Trainer and assessor qualifications
  • Current Coal Board Medical certification
  • Previous experience providing technical support for high-performance machinery.
  • Familiarity & experience with the operation and maintenance of HBT equipment
  • Underground experience in the longwall mining environment.
